Details: Wuyishan, one of the world's natural and cultural heritage sites, is renowned for its unique emerald waters and crimson mountains. It is said: “Thirty-six peaks are truly wondrous, a stream meanders nine times, its water rippling; white clouds obscure the view, a fairyland on earth is Wuyishan.” Nine-Bend Stream Bamboo Rafting: Named for its nine bends as it winds around the mountains. The strange peaks on both banks offer different views at every bend. Drift on a rustic bamboo raft; look up at the mountains, look down at the water, and touch the clear current. The stream is 9.2 km long and passes along mountains and through bends, with views of Twin Peaks, Upper and Lower Water Turtles, the ancient mystery of the “Boat Coffin in the Ravine,” Jade Maiden Peak, King Peak, thirty-six peaks, and ninety-nine rock formations. Ancient Street is a Song-Dynasty-style street selling Wuyishan specialties including tea products, Wuyi rock tea, and bamboo handicrafts, blending Song-Dynasty cultural style with modern tourism culture. Wuyi Palace, also known as Huixian Temple and Wanmian Palace, is on the southern slope of Dawang Peak in Wuyishan, facing the mouth of the Nine-Bend Stream. It was where emperors of past dynasties worshipped the Wuyi God and was one of the six famous temples in the country during the Song Dynasty. Tea Brewing Around a Fire is a leisurely activity combining tea ceremony and gathering-around-a-fire culture. Tea is slowly boiled over charcoal or a small stove. People gather around the fire, chat about everyday life, or share their thoughts.    Route: Mount Wuyi / Fuzhou (4.0H) At a glance: Travel to Fuzhou; visit West Lake Park, Lin Zexu Memorial Hall and Three Lanes and Seven Alleys; dinner at own expense. Details: After breakfast, head to Fuzhou, the capital of Fujian Province. West Lake Park has a history of more than 1,700 years. It is the best-preserved classical garden in Fuzhou and is known as the Pearl of Fujian Gardens. At Lin Zexu Memorial Hall, the Imperial Stele Pavilion records Lin Zexu's life and deeds on stone tablets. To the right is Shude Hall, where a seated bronze statue of Lin Zexu is enshrined, with a plaque above inscribed with “福寿” (fortune and longevity). The rear garden has pavilions, ponds, and greenery in an elegant garden setting. Three Lanes and Seven Alleys (dinner at own expense): The Nanhou Street Archway is the central axis of the Sanfang Qixiang area. It preserves the Tang- and Song-dynasty lane layout and is described as a museum of Ming- and Qing-dynasty architecture and a living fossil of the city's lane-and-alley system.     Route: Fuzhou / Putian (1.5H) / Quanzhou (1.5H) At a glance: Putian Ancient Drum Tower, Wenfeng Tianhou Palace and Xinghua historical-cultural street; Quanzhou Kaiyuan Temple, East and West Pagodas, West Street and Xiaoxicheng. Details: Putian: The Ancient Drum Tower is an old traditional Chinese building in Putian urban area and is described as one of the few intact drum towers preserved in China. Wenfeng Tianhou Palace was formerly the Baihu Shunji Temple, built in 1155 during the Southern Song Dynasty after Chen Junqing donated the land. During an epidemic, Mazu was said to have manifested and saved the people. The temple is described as one of the “three major Tianfei palaces of the Southern Song Dynasty,” together with the Mazu ancestral temple on Meizhou and Tianjin Tianhou Palace. Xinghua Prefecture Historical and Cultural Street preserves historical remains and cultural styles, including six well-preserved old streets: Dalu Street, Xianxiang, Houjie, Yahou Road, Miaoqian Road and Fangxiang, showing Ming- and Qing-dynasty architectural features. Quanzhou: Kaiyuan Temple is the largest temple in Fujian. During Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty, because of the “Kaiyuan Prosperity,” an “Kaiyuan Temple” was ordered to be built in every prefecture. The East and West Pagodas are the Zhen'guo Pagoda and Renshou Pagoda; together they are described as China's tallest existing pair of stone pagodas and are within Kaiyuan Temple on West Street, Quanzhou. Quanzhou West Street is one of the best-preserved old street areas in Quanzhou. It carries thousands of years of Quanzhou cultural and historical heritage and is densely packed with Western-style buildings and ancient residences. It is 1,700 metres long and 10 metres wide. Xiaoxicheng is a newly built small cultural park on West Street and a check-in location. Shapowei carries historical heritage since the Ming Dynasty and is now a creative market where young entrepreneurs and craftspeople gather. It is dotted with specialty shops.
